The girls are hanging out on the front porch because of the heat.
I collected this swarm off the side of a shed.
This swarm was 30 feet up in a tree.
HWe believe that sustainable farming is essential to working with the environment. As a result we added the Honeybee Apiary to the farm in 2014.
Why add bees to the mix? Well the honey is Oh So Sweet! More seriously is that pollinators are essential for fruits, vegetables, trees and of course flowers. I have noticed that I did not see many honey bees around the farm so I have decided to do something about it. Also it is an experiment with mind over matter. See, I have had a small phobia of flying insects with stingers! You might say "I had a bad experience!".
We are dedicated to using 100% Ohio Honeybees. All of my hives, which as of 2018, number in the 50's are all overwintered.
Pollen of different colors
